British businessman, it will do a lot for their political and economic profile - so with their record on human rights they should not have been given it. They are a worse nation than South Africa were when boycotted and giving the olympics to them is very wrong it shows a very poor memory from the world on how China treats its people.

With the hosting of 2008 Olympic Games, I think China is simply sending a message that their time has come and they are ready for the international community -- to interface socially and economically. China indeed is going to make a loud noise about this event and it's going to be economically beneficial in the long term and will somehow prop up their position in world politics -- Filipino Entreprenuer.

ive been in china.....i know for sure that they're trying to improve the place industrially...and china'll probably become more known and respected after the olympics. i think its a good thing for china too..the people will get to know more about other countries as well

I suppose it will make them a lot of money and every one will say how good it was even if it isn't, I do not agree that they should be there yet as they still do not respect human rights enough
