I feel sex education is very important to prevent STDs, unwanted pregnancies, etc which have not just a physical but also a psychological impact on young minds.
However sex education has to be introduced much earlier like when kids are 5-10 yrs old, they must be taught how to avoid being exploited by paedophiles and prevent child sex abuse.

As they grow up they must be taught what is healthy and safe and at the same time not just physical aspects of sex but also how it is important to respect others' feelings.
It is important to teach them when to say 'no' and to back off if the other person says no.
Also it is important that children have an environment at home where they can freely discuss anything that they want to know with their parents because they can be their best guides.

That is a definite YES! Young people are engaging in sexual activities now more than ever and they are doing it without being fully informed of the risks (good and bad). In order to learn, you must be taught, whether it be mathematics, history, or sex! Sex education should go beyond diseases by educating the younger generation about some of the social and psychological effects of sex.
That a person who is raped may not acquire an std or become pregnant does not erase the mental aguish and embarressment of the act. Furthermore, these young people, and some older people as well, who are engaging in sexual activities because of the fear factor and coolness will seek lots of repair once they finally begin to come into themselves and look to fill the emptiness created by engaging in uneducated sex.
The fact of the matter is, the more you are educated on a subject, the more you can excel and make conscious minded decisions that prepare you for success!

It's not teaching "sexual behavior". It's to teach responsibility and awareness for the risks associated with such behavior. My school has abstinence only education, and I graduated with half a dozen pregnant girls. Maybe that wouldn't have been the case if we had had someone teach us about birth control. Children also need to be aware of the risk of STIs. They are a real danger nowadays. Another part of the education is instruction on the reproductive system. Not every child signs up for anatomy & physiology, and most biology classes don't go into excessive detail. But the fact remains that young adults need to be aware of how their reproductive systems work. They need to know about reproduction, hormones, disorders, etc. And "moral education" does not belong in a classroom. Morality is a high subjective and personal thing, and school is supposed to be where children learn facts and thinking skills. Not morals. That's their parents' job. And why do you think there should be a different age for girls and for boys? Sure, boys hit puberty later than girls, but by 18 and 21, puberty is over. What use is information about the processes after they're already finished?

Education about sexuality is important. People need information how to protect themselves if they are going to be active, plus there are many STDs to be aware of. I personally think it would be preferable for the parents to talk to the student, but there are many who will not, or do not know all the things there are to know, and that's where the schools come in.

It is a very useful subject and should be tought to students of higher secondary level. Certainly majority will get correct information and be aware of + and - points. It is a question welcome. However, i feel the teaching method could be media since i hope many teachers may shy away! In countries like India, this is urgently required in villages too where non-school goers remain helpless.

time is accelerating today and people did not have time to stop and look back.in such situation its necessary to introduce students to the sexual world.in this world only two species have sex for their pleasure-one is human and other is dolphin.amazed?their are number of more amazing facts and important data about sex which student should know.students today are inquisitive and try to find the data about sex by wrong medium which is not COMPLETE. AND WE KNOW THAT HALF KNOWLEDGE IS Even MORE DANGEROUS THAN NOT TO HAVE KNOWLEDGE.THEY INVOLVE IN UNPROTECTED SEX AND BECOME VICTIMS OF MANY SEXUAL DISEASE OF WHICH AIDS IS THE MOST DANGEROUS ONE.SO ITS BETTER TO INTRODUCE SEX EDUCATION WHICH WILL PROTECT OUR YOUTH FROM diseases.gone are the days when their was modesty in face of youth.so better introduce them to real world as early as possible

I support the initiative of educating them rather than the children getting biased or wrong information and that might lead to a lot of misconceptions as well as crimes arising out of hatered or insults faced

Of course. Teenagers need to know of the dangers of unsafe sexual contact. Anyway, knowing about such things from people who care about them is always better. 'Proper' sex education, of course, is a matter of personal opinion. I don't think schools should be forced to impart it, though.

Very much necessary. It dispells myths about sex. It imparts the right knowledge about sex - what to indulge in and what to avoid etc. It propagates safety in sexual interactions.
