since I stopped taking it 18 or so months ago, my periods have been light. Before I was on the pill they were quite heavy, lasting about 7 day. now they are light and only last about 5. Dr has said this is ok, but all the books i have read on ttc have said periods should return to how they were before. Anyone else had this?

Its normal for your body to have changed its cycles in 14 years. It naturally would have done so every 7 years anyway. The hormones in the BC only speed that process.

Put the book down and have sex when you feel like it. Trying to make it happen only makes it harder to get pregnant.

I recently came off the pill after 14 years and expected my periods to be long, heavy and irregular like they were before I went on the pill, but they were lighter and shorter and very regular. You don't mention your age, but if you were young when you went on the pill there is a good chance that your cycles changed in that time like mine did. I was lucky enough to get pregnant as soon as I started trying, so the change in my cycle didn't seem to affect that at all. Good luck with ttc!

Your periods are supposed to get lighter as you get older. So if you started taking the pill when you were young (like 18) your periods were more likely naturally heavy. Now that you are a littler older that would naturally be lighter. If your doctor says that everything is fine, then I wouldn't worry too much.

If you have been off the pill for eighteen months and are trying to conceive and still had no luck, please see a Fertility Speciliast. It is the best thing that my husband and I ever did!! Good Luck!

I know of two friends who were both on the pill for 8-10 years and neither has concieved yet. One of my mates has not had a period or anything since. Ithink hormones in the pill play havoc with your natural system but good luck it will be worth the wait.

you were on the pill a very long time, so it could take a couple of years for your body to get back to normal, good luck
