Okay, I basically started watching tennis from Wimbledon 2005.
I've always wanted to learn how to play tennis but lets just say that due to circumstan ces, I couldn't.
I'm 20 years old, female, height's around 5'8" and I weigh 200 lbs.
Huge, yeah, I know.
The thing is, do you think I COULD play tennis?
My problem is I'm really shy of going out onto a court, and I think I'd look awful playing. On the other hand, its a dream to learn how to hit a ball with a racquet, and I dont want to be awfully good, just want to learn how to play.

Plus, I need a cheap racquet to start off with, because my uni's starting and once that starts, I'm kind of wrapped up in studies. Yeah, I'm the geeky sort.
I'm from Pakistan *and no, thats not a synonym for terrorist or suicide bomber*, so any ideas how much a racquet could cost me? Or if I could get a hand-me-down?

Thanks.

Yeah, you could learn to play at any age smiley

There are a lot of racquets out there that would fit you and your budget. A local sports store would probably be the best bet.

And just look around for people that can teach you. You don't need to be taught by a really good pro right away. Just someone that knows how to play and is willing to teach you.

I don't see why not you wouldn't be able to play tennis.

Making the professional tours on TV is probably slim at best, but there are always events, amateur and local pro, through whatever tennis organization, depending on the country. You might have to do additional research on that after you get some additional tennis lessons.

For the price of racquets, best thing to do is consult a sporting goods store. They can get you on your way with the right equipment.

Of course you can play tennis! : ) As for a racquet, go to a local sports store and buy a biggeners racquet. They usually go for about $20 and less. I would tell you all about the fundementals of tennis, but that may take a while. Please check out this website! Good Luck : )

You can defiantly learn. I really do recommend a few lessons to get you going. A lot of people start when they are much older then you.
