Mighty Max....please correct yourself!
Nintendo Wii will have the largest gaming library known to man! why you may ask....simple
Every console nintedno has ever made from the NES through Gamecube will be playable on Wii. AND... systems such as Sega Genesis, TurboGrafix 16, etc, are being added daily to the "Virtual Console" feature the Wii Has. Its very possible we will see Saturn or Dreamcast games on the Wii virtual console as well, especially since gamecube and N64 games will be available.
The Wii will virtually play every console know to man, except for Sony's offerings. Not to mention the flood of new games for the Wii.
Wii wins this time, sorry Sony.
I want to add that Sony's ps3 controller will be more expensive than the Wii (both nunchuck and wii-mote together). Google it.
...and also that the Wii will offer a classic controller (in the style of the Playstation Controllers) for only $20 (vs. $60 for PS3) for users who want the classic feel and for developers who want to make traditional button mashers as opposed to next gen motion sensing games.

1. Price = $600 = I can buy 2 Wii's, or 360 + Wii, etc...
You think that’s bad? Wait till you see how much I sell mine for when it hits e-bay. I will be able to buy another PS3 (post-holidays after kinks have been fixed), a 360 and a Wii.
2. No Rumble? This is Sony's "innovation"? Stripping features?
One day I tried playing a game without rumble and it made me realize just how much it can add to the experience. If Sony’s goal is to make games more engrossing and interactive then they may have fudged up here. Removing rumble is a huge mistake.
3. Same Old Controller....yawn, button mashing, but Wii controller looks sweet!
I don’t necessarily agree, Sony’s controller can be used for a variety of different games and developers won’t have to work as hard mapping controller functions. I’m worried that this will hurt the Wii later on down the line because Developers may feel it is too easy to go with Sony’s layout over Nintendo’s layout.
4. Size does matter. System is gigantic, looks like a mid-tower PC.
I’m trying not to get hung up on the size of a system
5. Yawn, Same Old Games. I don't want to play Twisted Metal 23 or Wipeout 52, etc...
Agreed, but I’m sure we will see some good games down the line, but not enough for me to justify shelling out 600 dollars.
6. Blu-ray? Who cares, I own an HD Plasma, and I don't care. DVD quality is fine.
I really don’t think the new HD formats are necessary, but who knows. I don’t own a high def TV yet so that may change.
7. $80-100 for games? That's dumb
I refuse to pay this much for most of the games out there. Developers are cutting corners and shorting gamers on quality games all in the name of downloadable content.
In the end no, Sony will not fail. People will buy the PS3 if anything simply for the fact that a Blu-Ray player is included. At the rate the gaming industry is growing I doubt Sony has anything to worry about. While it's initial price point is considered high, I doubt they are going to have any trouble selling their systems. Just look at how many PS2s were sold during the life of the PS2. If they can't just get a percentage of that upgrade to a PS3 they have solidified themselves as a powerful player in the next-gen console war.

Uh, wait 4 years then we'll talk. Nintendo will have to put out an HD Wii to keep up with the 360 and PS3, and the current Wii will be dead in the water. It's still highly probably that neither the 360 nor the Wii will outsell the fanbase of their previous gen console (well, maybe the Wii, since it has gotten a new market, but nobody knows how many of the old Gamecube fans haven't bought a Wii yet). If Sony can even gain a majority share of the consoles sold it will be a huge victory. It's not as clearcut as the PS1 and PS2, because there were fewer good systems available then. Also, if you align the PS3 launch with the PS2 launch, they're about on track. So it's still way too early to tell. Stop trolling in the PS3 part of the questions.

1. Price = 600
but, that is for the expensive one. The Xbox 360 (premium) costs $400, and the Wii (only version thus far) $250 ($650). This is not including controllers where the Wii is going to have $60 remotes, not including the add ons for the remotes, and online costs of the 360 (which is pretty much the whole system).
2. Meh, I can live without rumble, the PS3 focuses on quick load times and multimedia capabilities. To replace one feature is not a big issue.
3. Meh, the old controller was cool, it beats the bannana controller. Remember, as mentioned before, higher prices for the Wii controller.
4. I don't think that is too big (lol) of an issue.
5. I like the old games. I don't want to get a game that is just a spinoff.
6. kk, still a nice feature. Remember that the blue ray component costs $1000 alone. That means that they got people in Asia that are working in video game sweat shops so we don't complain about $600, us stupid, ungratefull Americans...
7. What's your source? I heard only $60 for the standard game (similar to the $50 for a standard game for last gen)
I do think that the Wii is a fun system, but I don't think it is going to be so much cheaper thanks to the outrageous controller costs. I myself am getting a PS3 and a Wii.
... Not sure, don't have a PS3 yet.

First of all, let me correct you. $60 for games. Controller is wireless with tilt sensor.
That said, I'm all for the Wii but the PS3s and Wii both have been pre-ordered and sold-out all over New York City where I am, so the price isn't affecting us as much as I thought it would. However, I agree with you. Sony's bad PR, crappy ads, and +60 for 2nd controller, +60-120 for 1-2 games, and +60 for the HD wires = one very expensive investment for a system that only has launch titles going for it. Sony's looking down M$'s barrel. And this is coming from a huge PS2 player.
- Wii, the undersigned.

I would just like to add something. I work in a game store and the only reason ps3 sold out so fast is because the launch numbers were cut by 75%. Sure oranges sell out fast if you only got three. Most people that come into the store where I work will not get a PS3 just due to the price. Much less ask to preorder.

I totally agree, Sony just havent thought this one through. I agree the Wii does look like a gd laugh, but I've always been a big fan of the Xbox, and as soon as halo 3 comes out I'll buy a 360. When compared to PS3 it seems to win hands down
- Affordability
- Power
- Decent selection of games
- A good online multiplayer engine (Xbox Live)
It will certainly be interesting to see who comes out on top of this next gen console battle.

I agree I have a PS2 and love it but I just can't see 600.00 for a game system and a blu ray system that isn't proven. I don't have an HD tv and I don't plan on running out to buy one just to play games on, I hate to do it but I have really been looking at the 360, the same graphs and less money

The staple of next generation technology will be Blue Ray discs. Graphic engines will eventually have increased computing power, and the games will become cheaper. The benefit of blue ray is the memory capacity. Your HD TV will blow you away with what digital quality the discs will provide. And imagine how much gaming you can do with all that memory!!!
As for size, the Xbox is HUGE!!
Nintendo to for kids!!
Sony made a slim version of the PS2 and will make one for the PS3.
Rumble pack crap is for kids!! Let me just play the game!!!! I don't need a seizure!
The price will drop, like all of them have done in the past!!
Ans Sony has, by far, the largest gaming library on the market.

I don't think Sony's console will fail. The Pre ship sold out in like three minutes.
And the system itself really is more like a computer than a console. You would be hard pressed to find even a decent gaming computer with a 60GB hard drive for $600. And the PS3's hardware bumps it up into Alienware territory.
I will probably buy a Wii first and PS3 later based soley on the fact that I cannot afford a PS3 at $600.....
