I am guessing you are in High school.
Here is what I wish someone would have told me then:
Those popular kids don't matter. The jocks who teased me for being gay...I ran into them in a bar a couple years ago, they all had beer bellies, knocked up ugly girlfriends, low paying $h!t jobs, and looked pretty unhappy. I, on the other hand, had made my third million that year (not kidding!). The Girls, well the "ugly" ducklings"...some of the blossumed...some didn't but found people who don't judge you by the way you looked in college.
The popular girls go to college get gang raped at frat house and never talk about it. Because to be popular, let's be honest, you have to be an angel on the outside and a slut on the inside, like Britney Spears minus Doritoes.
What does matter. That person that has been next to you everyday since Kindergarten, but that you resent 'cause she isn't even as cool as you. That girl will invite you to her wedding. You to will watch your children play together in the park.
What does matter-Scholastics and Achievement!!!
I know it is so hard to believe, but Highschool ends and all those popular kids are instant nobodies a few weeks after graduation.
Don't sell yourself short of your own beliefs to look cool.
You already sound like you know better. Just ignore them, a taste of their own medicine. Their popularity depends on you caring what they think.
Oh, Why do schools have popularity contests?
Because it's the last chance for those losers to be important for the rest of their lives.
-An unpopular gay dude who went to Catholic School and is now retired at 24 with 3m and counting and a REALLY hot boyfriend.
DOWN WITH HEATHER CHANDLER!!!

I'm so sorry you have to deal with this. Kids can be really cruel. I loved HS but the private grade school I went to was brutal. The girls there were very mean. I refused to ignore a long-time friend of mine, which got me kicked out of the click and ostracized. The kicker was that the friend I was standing up for refused to speak to me too!
It does get better as you get older and can widen your circle of friends, though. Yes, there will always be the popular group--usually people who have a lot in common and have been there a while--but they won't be as blatant typically as to ignore you when you speak to them. Also, it might hurt now, but this is going to make you a really strong person. I personally don't care what most people think about me. I try to live a good life and do what's right but if someone doesn't like me for being me--well, their loss. I am also much more successful than most of those mean girls today. I'm a published writer, I have an advanced degree, and I have friends that I love and that really care about me.
There may not be a lot you can do to overcome the situation right now, but know that things will change as you get older. Also, if it is so horrible that you can't stand it, you can always consider home schooling. There are many accredited programs out there where you can finish your schooling via correspondence or online. Indiana University offers a program that is really good, but a little expensive.
I hope that gives you some ideas and know that this is not your problem. It is their problem.

The world is like this, not just school.
Some people seem to make it into the more popular cliques and others do not. I wouldn't worry to much about it. Keep your chin high and be proud of who you are.
In the end - things always work out for the better.

If people are going to be rude because your not one of the "cool kids" than ignore them and talk to some people worth talking too.
