I was still rather young at the time...to young to full appreciate the meaning of such an event.

While watching that clip it suddenly occurred to me that those men had no idea that Madiba would be the president only four years later and that he would proceed to be one of the most incredible human beings ever to have lived.

I think had I been the age I am now in 1990 I would probably have watched it full of emotion...

Well, I was very young at that stage, if I could remember correctly, my whole family was at our house. I didn't really care. My parents taught me that no matter what colour someone's skin, respect is the keyword to all matters regarding race.

Today I understand what was happening at that stage, and I think it was the right thing to do, setting Mandela free.

(I don't have speakers so I watched the video, but I don't know what was said...)

I was in a biology class when my teacher brought in a tv to show us. I was in standard 9. I thought it was the best thing I ever saw next to Princess Diana getting married to that scumbag Charles. She was so pretty!

I watched it with keen interest. Couldn't believe it was happening. Was it that long ago? Seems like just the other day.

De Klerk was right. Just a pity about Mandela's response - Kill the Boer,Kill the Whites.
