You go to chat rooms to be social so I would not say that they are anti-social.

Chat rooms are anti social in the physical sense in that , they create an environment allowing people to have a conversation, whilst not mixing physically socially, if that makes sense

I dont think there is a case to answer here simply because chatrooms facilitate the ability for people to meet online and express various viewpoints in an open environment. as indeed you would if you were to meet physically socially say at a pub.

For many people who do not have the social skills,or desire to meet with people phsyically, the chatroom provides an opportunity to take part in social discourse, which would not normally be available to them

I am not sure if this makes sense, still hope it helps

while the purpose of a chatroom is to socialize with your cyber-friends, it is done in such a manner that it can be considered antisocial. You can keep a certain amount of anonymity on line. One can easily lie about who they are, what they look like and what type of person they are. You do not have to directly interact with others, only with a keyboard and screen.

i might comply with an volume that basically socialising in on line chat rooms is anti social. i comprehend there any many human beings around who've a tendency to cover of their on line cocoons mutually as they could be out socialising with human beings in actual existence. yet as a piece of someones existence its the alternative. Its a wager to solicalise with flow sections of the comminity which you will possibly in no way of had a wager to fulfill. i've got in my opinion met many human beings on line that have become costly freinds. stable success with the study!

I think that they are another way for people to hide from the world around them, sometimes. There is nothing like talking to someone face to face. Like this Answers site, I think that they are fine used in moderation. May people in to-days society have become afraid, isolated and may not have good social skills. I would say to people do talk to neighbours, family, friends.

I have to agree, I have entered them a few times at the urging of a friend here in my neighborhood and found everytime that the majority of people in the chat rooms are either bots with links to porn sites or just obnoxious morons trying to cause problems for others. ( Of course this dont apply to all who enter chat rooms just most as Ive seen).

Some political chat rooms are rife with strife. Insults, irrational statement and conspiracy theories abound. It is fortunate there is a long wire between them.
