Weeellll Chat rooms are anti social interior the actual experience in that , they carry about an environment permitting human beings to have a communique, on an analogous time as no longer blending bodily socially, if this is wise I dont think of there's a case to respond to right here because of the fact chatrooms facilitate the flexibility for persons to fulfill online and exhibit greater than a number of viewpoints in an open environment. as certainly you will possibly in case you have been to fulfill bodily socially say at a pub. for plenty of people who don't have the social skills,or prefer to fulfill with human beings phsyically, the chatroom supplies you an threat to take part in social discourse, which does no longer often be attainable to them i'm unsure if this is wise, nevertheless desire it enables

I would agree to an extent that only socialising in on-line chat rooms is anti social. I know there any many folks around who tend to hide in their online cocoons while they could be out socialising with people in real life. But as a portion of someones life its the opposite. Its a opportunity to solicalise with cross sections of the comminity that you would never of had a chance to meet. I've personally met many people online that have become dear freinds.

Good luck with the research!

The chat rooms themselves are a gift, nothing wrong with them. But the few times I explored chat rooms, I discovered obscene talking people. Some chat rooms have a subject but there seemed no way to screen who got in the chat room. Obscene writing could well be called "anti'social", for those wishing something on a higher plane, just get out, and leave the "chat-rooms" for people who want the freedom to leave all integrity outside and just come in and use fowl mouthed talk.

They are too impersonal, and anonymity can let a lot of people say things they wouldn't (or couldn't) say to your face. A part of being "social" is the daily face-to-face conversations, reading body language, and personal inter-action that chat-rooms don't permit. It's nice to see a smile, or shake a hand, not just hitting keys and looking at iconic similes.

I would say "that statement is retarded". The whole point of a chatroom is to talk and socialise. If some Luddite thinks it's not social because there's a machine in between, that's their problem.

I wouldn't say they were anti-social as such although some people do abuse the system so in that respect they are. Now I'm not quite sure what the answer is but I'm sure someone out there will be helpful to you (is that social -umm yes I guess it is)!

A few reasons...

1. Whenever I go on chatrooms hardly anyone is talking to me or even talking at all
2. And if you do talk to someone, you are not talking them face to face.

Hope I could help.

I suppose they are. I use them because I find it hard expressing myself in social situations. But you are in a social situation. It's only really anti social if you blow real people off for your cyber buddies thats what I think.
