i am 35 weeks (36 on friday) with that said ...what do you think...
well everybody, here is what happened....my mom had to take my sister to her 1st ob appt. today, which happens to be where i i go for prenatal as well....so my mom asked while she was there what they think i should do....due to the fact that i thought i might be leaking a very small amount of amniotic fluids....i didnt want to make a huge deal about it cuz there was not alot a fluid...but sure enough my mom called me and said they wanted me to go to L&D...sooooo...i went there and they hooked me up to the monitor....i was having some contactions....which as i have been saying i thought i was....and sure enough i was.....then 2 hours later they finaly checked to see if i actually was leaking fluids....and the swab nor the microscope showed any signs of amniotic fluid...which i was surprised because i did the whole lay down 20 min. to half hour and had a small quarter size amt. on the paper i had in my underwear....which is what my mom told the docs that pursuaded them to bring me in....they decided to check and see if i was dialating at all or anything and i was not dilating but.....he said my cervix is thinning and softning....sooooo....im not sure how much this says about how soon i will go...but it is progress towards labor i guess...my doc told me to keep my wed. appt. so they can check me again soooo....i dont know...guess we will see....

does anybody have any input on what this could mean for me....anybody experience this and go into labor soon....lets just say i feel bad cuz my mom is leaving for vactation sunday and is now debating on what to do....because i lost my plug last sunday with no blood....i have soft stools....some contractions...softning and thinning...etc. so now she is afraid to go away....i dont want her to not go because of me...but what are the chances i wont deliver anytime between now and the end of next week (the 17th)...

i know there is not much you can say for sure...but experience does help a lil...thanks!!!

If i were her I wouldnt go for vacation. You'll probably end up in labor in a week or sooner.. depending. Who knows.

My mom lives 1700 miles away and cant be here for the birth of her first grandchild. It sucks knowing your mom wont be there for you.

Just let her stay, she can take other vacations, but she cant put the baby back in and go through this experience a different time.

There's really just no way to know. Mucous plug really means nothing- could be the next day, could be 4 more weeks. Softening and thinning is very normal with a first baby at this stage of pregnancy. And so are contractions. Most pregnant women, especially with the first baby do think they're leaking fluid at some point. Usually it's urine, sometimes it's mucous, and sometimes it's just discharge. The sterile speculum and swab exam is absolutely conclusive. Except for the possibility of an incompetent dr, it can't be wrong.

I'd probably let her go, but then again, she'll probably spend her whole vacation worrying about you.

Well, I wouldn't feel too bad. I mean you cant help what's happening with your body and you can't help when the baby comes. If I were her I wouldn't go because I wouldn't want to miss it. I mean she can always go away on vacation but how many time is her first grandchild going to be born?? Don't feel bad hunny..you're close to having a baby. If you lost your plug I would say it should happen fairly soon..although I was under the impression that the plug had a little bit of blood or wasn't just white or yellow in color..that there maybe some red, pink or brown in it. I mean are you positive it was your plug? But if you are and it was I would suspect the baby to come pretty soon. Best of luck! Hope your mom can figure things out and be there for the birth for your sake and for your baby!

You did not anything unsuitable. You had each and every correct to have this specific second be among simply you & the little one's father - it is some thing handiest you 2 created in combination & a nice bonding experiance. Your Mom is being particularly immature & unreasonable. She's throwing a have compatibility like a two 12 months historical baby. Don't permit her make you believe responsible. She will have to recognize that she no less than acquired to be within the room w/ you at the same time you had been in exertions & that she would have noticeable the little one very in a while after he/she was once born - above all understanding that your bfs loved ones would now not be there in any respect - she had the threat to be there for such a lot of it & selected to not be. That's her hindrance. There's not anything you'll be able to fairly do, she'll simply want time to recover from it. She's too egocentric to fully grasp your reasonings & I wager she'll attempt to make you believe dangerous approximately this for the leisure of your lifestyles - do not permit her, you made the correct option. She'll have lots of time to bond along with her grandchild, she demands to relize that. You can attempt to speak for your Mom approximately it, however she's traditionally cussed & it is going to traditionally do no well, so simply attempt to preclude this discipline along with her by way of exchanging the subject everytime she brings it up. She's simply mad at your bf cuz she's jelous. Use this time to bond w/ your bf & your little one & omit approximately you are Mom's egocentric guilt journeys.

Losing your mucus plug means you could deliver in the next few weeks, your cervix starts to soften and thin and you can start to dilate at 36weeks and still not deliver on time. I was 2cm dilated at 36 weeks and had to be induced a week after my due date.

Babies will come whenever they are ready and there is no way to tell when. If someone wants to be sure to be present for the birth of a baby, they should not leave town in the last month of pregnancy. The signs of impending delivery don't narrow it down any, sorry.

Congratulations!!

You will be having that baby soon. Could be days or a week or a little more. Your Mom should understand this. You gotta wonder why she has not postponed her trip on her own? What is her priority? She may very well miss the birth of the baby if she leaves.
