Anyone else noticed that there aren't many female drummers? Most people say its cause were rubbish.. but its not entirely true. I'm mainly self taught and did my grade 6 last year, and my best mate is an awesome drummer, who just got into an up and coming band (look out for sun somer!)..

I think a lot of girls are dubious about picking up the sticks cause its seen as a masculine instrument..?

My boyfriend, who is also a drummer totally digs it :-)

Lol...many years ago when in h.s., a friend of mine who was a great musician let me get at his drums and I found that it was one of those things where my feet did not want to completely cooperate with my hands! I managed to do what he told me, but laughing the whole time at my lack of true coordination. Strange, because I am usually a very coordinated person, but for some reason, drums were not my forte. He then tried me on guitar, that was more my speed. In my dreams, I'd love to be a middle-aged, female Eddie Van Halen...but forget the spandex, my thighs would offend!

I would love to be able to learn. Something about taking out my aggressions out banging out the drum solo from an old 70's song...very cool! : )

I am glad you are into this, keep it up, don't put those sticks down!

Hey!
Can you please tell anyone who said that Girls are rubbish to Shut Up.

I mean c'mon Meg White is awesome, and I know a lots of girls who are obsessed with Drums and Drummers.

It doesn't matter whether its a Male or Female hitting the Drums, Music is Music and we don't see who's playing but we listen to what's played.

So don't stop hittin the drums cuz who knows? maybe they'll say one day that ur John Bonham but in a skirt??

GOOD LUCK

I'm part of the largest female percussion ensemble among northern michigan high schools, and people dig it. We rock, and people would never expect it coming from a group of fifteen girls. We can do whatever the guys can do...and more.

i'm a female drummer. i love seeing women play the drums, especially when they just wreak the set and they go kamakazi on it. it's awesome. but yeah, it's too bad that there aren't too many well known female drummers.

I have been doing it for a few years and love it.
Played in a band for about a year but had to quit and get a real job that actually paid the bills. But would hook up in a heart beat.
I am not the greatest but I love it.
Keep it up girl and you will go far!!!!!!!

Who has a music written approximately him that all of us understand? Pa - rum - pa - pum - pum. women rock. i'm confident that lady drummers are great. the only subject worse than racism is sexism. in case you seek for ameliorations, it particularly is all you will see. purely love.
