Im 39wks and 2 days..With my 3rd child, All the websites I've read, Said that usually 2nd time and subsequent moms don't usually 'drop' until their ready to go into labor..

Well, I think I have...My belly feels like it's sitting A LOT lower..In fact, If my belly wasn't still huge, and I didn't feel her kicking around in there, I'd swear I wasn't even pregnant...(before I was so uncomfy like my belly was pushing my boobs into my mouth) Lol..

Is it possible to 'drop' and NOT be going into labor, Or am I just in the early early stages of labor, And not realizing it?

I've lost pieces of my mucous plug (Just yesterday) and as of last week, I was dilated 2cm..The Dr. also said that the baby is in position, He said he could almost feel her head while doing my vaginal exam.

Sweetie, if they say you are dilated, no matter how far, you are in labor. Technically, I was in labor for the better part of my third trimester with my first child. This time has been different. So yes, you are in the early stages of labor. Don't freak out or anything like that, most women get to stay home and sit through the contractions for the first few hours that thay are in labor. Mostly, though it's just that, a few hours. The times are changing and more and more women are getting to the hospital within minutes of actual hard labor. Most of these women deliver within an hour of arrival. I did. If you feel well enough to be up and about in the middle of all the contractions, don't worry about them. You should worry when they get to be about 15 to 20 minutes apart or you almost can't stand while they happen. You sound like you're doing just fine. Good luck and tyr to take it easy.

It just sounds like your body is preparing for labor. It is all very normal for as far along as you are. You don't have much longer now. But you can drop and also lose your mucus plug and not be in labor or even necessarily go into labor shortly after. Not too much longer until you meet your little girl!

With my 4th pregnancy, the baby dropped at only 6 mos. (I tucked in my then 3 year old and when I stood up, WOW I could breathe!) I was put on bed rest for the duration, to avoid going into labor. But you're much further along. I wouldn't worry about it, you'll be enjoying your new baby fairly soon now. Good luck :)

Yeah, you can definitly drop and not be in active labor. The baby dropping does help to move things along, since it helps thin the cervix, but it doesnt mean you are in labor.

Those websites just speak generally, a lot of women cant be generalized :)

Enjoy being able to breathe without your boobs in your throat.. :)

Sounds like you should be starting labour any time now! It's hard since every pregnancy is different, so don't expect the exact same thing every time. Also, books and websites aren't always accurate either, there are so many different variations, they can't cover all of them!!
