My friend is 28 weeks along with twins and has been having real bad back pain and she is swallon up, I think she has Pre Clampsia. She has an appointment next Monday and she has not been to the doctors in a while so I know she is goign to get an ultrasound to see what she is having but anyways.

Seeing as she is carying twins I know she is going to go within 30-35 weeks and if she has pre clampsia then that just makes it a even higher chance of goign early, I had it when I was pregnant and they took my son 6 weeks early.

So is it possible she may end up having the babies this month? If she gives birth late this month or early next month how long do you thik the babies will be in the NICU?

I already told her they will likely most def be in the NICU and it may come to where she may be able to only take one home from the NICU while the other one may have to stay longer.

She has not been to the doctors since she was 16 weeks so what all are they going to do?

She was in the ER twice last month because she was spitting up blood, they told her it wa sbecause how much morning sickness she was having and they checked the abbies hear tbeat and said they were fine. She had not been to the docs in so long cuzz her insurance was cancelled, her social worker was suppose to fix it and call her but she never did, she found out at her second visit to the hospital that her insurance was reinstated two weeks before. Her social worker never called her and told her that so she called her up and gave her a peice of her mind

I had twins and had pre-eclampsia. They induced labor at 34 weeks. One stayed in NICU for 2 weeks the other came home. Average gestation for twins is 36 weeks. If she tests positive for pre-eclampsia they will try bed-rest and meds up to 34 weeks then induce labor if it doesn't get better. They will only induce labor earlier if the babies go into distress or if she doesn't respond to treatment. If she had the babies at 30 weeks the babies would probably stay for 10 weeks or up to the time of the original due date. Babies born before 31 weeks have a high risk for hemorrhaging. Lungs are developed at 32-33 weeks and the suck-swallow-breath reflex necessary to eat is developed between 34-35 weeks.

Hi! I have 10 month old twins and many friends with twins (since I joined a twin moms club).

1. NICU - Yes, twins have an increased chance of being in the NICU, especially if they are born early. However, not every set of twins ends up in the NICU.

2. Twins aren't always born early. 37 weeks is considered full term by most doctors. However, I know many moms who made it to 40 weeks or more! I was 36 weeks when mine were born. They spent no time in the NICU and came home with me.

3. With the pre-eclampsia she may end up on bed rest. A co-worker was on bed rest with her twins due to pre-eclampsia for the last 3 weeks of her pregnancy. She gave birth at 36 weeks to healthy twin girls. No NICU time and they came home with her.

4. If the babies do come too early their length of time in the NICU would depend alot on their birth weight. Her growth ultrasounds should be telling her/her doctor how much the babies weigh. This would be a big factor in how long they would be in the NICU. I've met twin moms who gave birth at 37 weeks to 4lb and 3.5lb babies and other twin moms who gave birth at 32 weeks to 5lb and 4.5lb babies!

Finally, with a twin pregnancy she should deffinately be seeing the doctor more often. I had to go every two weeks once I was 22 weeks pregnant. Towards the end I was going weekly. Not to mention the ultrasounds every 2-3 weeks and the non-stress tests. Please encourage her to go to the doctors more to ensure that her babies get the best possible start.

Good luck!

Carrying twins is considered high risk, therefore, she should be seeing her doctor very often. If she is 28 weeks and has not seen the doctor since 16 weeks, something is wrong! That's 12 weeks without pre-natal care. She either needs to get a new doctor or speak up! That is not normal. Something serious could be happening. She needs to go to the ER. Forget about waiting.

I believe they are excellent, besides I do not just like the core names. Joy is fine, however now not while it's paired with Faith - which I do not like in any respect. You must inform them to do not forget different core names. But I like Olivia and Elizabeth. They might get nicknamed Liz and Liv, I wish that they don't seem to be each given the ones nicknames due to the fact that than it might be manner too matchy matchy.
