I interview lots of people. Until you are on the other side you dont realise that it can be quite nerve racking for the interviewers too. We expect people to be nervous and most of us will try to put candidates at ease but its nice if you art dressed smartly (shows you made an effort) smile (puts us at ease) and know what you are applying for and WHY you want to do it. Tell the truth as far as possible. If you dont know much about medical engineering, phone the department in a hospital or elsewhere and tell them who you are and ask them what they do and what is good about it.
Have some idea what you want to do once you are qualified or at least know what your options are.

When there are lots of candidates with the same qualifications it can be very small things that make a difference; enthusiasm, the fact that you did something different like sports (shows dedication, commitment, discipline) voluntary work etc.

Practise with a friend- walk into a room, say hello, sit down and tell them why you want to do this and why at their University.

Good Luck

They are bound to ask 1. why you want to study Medical Engineering and 2. Why you applied to QM Univ.

Spend some time writing down some plausible answers to these two questions and learn them off by heart. Make the answers personal if possible. Remember what hobbies and interests you put on your application form and think what you enjoy about them and why.

You won't be expected to know anything much about Medical Engineering except what it is - that's why you're going to study it. Remember, they're not trying to catch you out, just to make sure you can make a go of the course. If they ask you something you don't know just smile, shake your head and say so. And don't argue!

First, always be confident and appear comfortable. Regardless what the topic humans typically respond and remember those they like.
I can't say I know typical question or topics in a medical engineering interview but I image your grades and extracurricular interests will be evaluated. I would try to sound well rounded in that area. Grades speak for themselves.

Good luck and make sure you go in knowing you deserve to be there already!!!

Have a look at the University website for further information - you should find all you need on there and can then ask the appropriate questions in your interview. Good luck.

A question that is often asked is name 5 famous Belgians.

A good answer for you would be:

Albert Claude, biochemist who was the first to isolate a cancer cell

Andreas Vesalius, famous anatomist and physician

Jules Bordet, bacteriologist who developed vaccine for whooping cough

Jan Baptista van Helmont, physician / chemist who showed that plants feed mostly on water, not soil

Ilya Prigogine, chemical physicist famous for his theoretical framework on the origin of life

Ask them, what you would enjoy most about studying there?

What is their drop out rate and why?

What percentage leave direct to industry jobs?

Look for some books, they always ask the same things

Ask them what type of research they are engaged in at present.
Show interest in the wider field beyond your own course.
