Hi, i am learning Linux in a class this semester. We've learned some basic shell programming. Now they're giving us a project for lab work. We have three options to choose on making: new distro, remastering cd, or Linux utilities.

The problem is i have to submit the topic this week. Making new distro sounds too confusing to me, so i guess remastering cd would be better. But... how do i remaster it? what should i remaster? ... what is remastering cd?

Can you suggest me a topic, it should be specific to certain area such as multimedia, or anything? The most important is could you point me to a very detail explanation on how to remaster?

Please.. help, I've been using Windows all my life... i really know nothing about this stuff, but i'm eager to learn.

Thanks

I would suggest you concentrate on SOME of the utilities.

You will find that some of the utilities are REQUIRED to do EITHER of the other two options you list, and you need to understand the utilities FIRST.

Possibly you could find a "small" job utility that needs a newer or better program and work on writing that better program.

well i dont know what connection cd remastering has with linux but this is the defination i got on the net...

Re-mastering is the art of taking your finished audio work which many times has already been mastered and adding sonic and dynamic qualities which make the recording shine.

well going by that definition i guess it means adding more tools and utilities to a existing linux diastro ..but i am not too sure..however why dont you go for linux utilities..you will gets tons of material on it...heres a good link http://www-128.ibm.com/developerworks/linux/library/l-util.html

another decent link is http://www.linuxjournal.com/article/4999
