Yes, breastmilk is enough. In fact, giving a baby water unnecissarily only takes up space in the stomach and makes them feel full- then they might not eat as much breastmilk, which has all the nutrition they need.
If he is interested, you can start giving him solids to taste. He should still get most of his nutrition from breastmilk for awhile. Once he starts on solids you can give him sips of water with (or right after) a meal to help avoid constipation from the solid food. Our son only drinks a few tablespoons and he is fine. He drinks it from a regular plastic cup.
Unless he's eating solids, mama's milk is still the perfect food- no additional water necessary!

This is an excellent question and one that I came up against. My toddler never really drank much water. Milk was generally enough. Around that age they develop a taste for other liquids, such as apple juice and orange. Although you may dislike the taste, try mixing about 30% apple juice with 70% water. The baby will likely enjoy this. Also try other juices. My toddler can't get enough pomegranite. Good luck.

My pediatrician said he doesn't NEED extra water, because he gets enough from milk and solid foods, but my 9 month old loooves water so the doctor said it's ok to give him a couple ounces in a sippy cup during the day.

I don't think that you should be giving a baby anything but formula, breastmilk or baby food at that age. They get plenty of liquids from what they take in in the milk.

i was told that If your baby is still on formula or nursing they get all of the water that they need from that so I never gave my sons water. They really wouldn't even take it. I would also say you should talk to you childs dr. Good luck!

I dunno how much he should drink. My daughter is 11 months and I can't get her to drink water out of a bottle or sippy cup.But she will drink tea, lemonaid, formula, soda, and some juice our of her bottle. She will drink water out of a regular cup though. Just give him about 4 onces or so.

I don't think you should give the baby a lot, maybe just a little from the straw
