yes growing pains are very common. And since you are so small and slender the baby is streaching your hips to make room to grow.

Everone's pregancy is different. Aches in the abdomen are common. Your ligaments are stretching and your uterus is growing.... so some pains are normal. Any cramping or sharp apins are not normal..... especially with bleeding. Go get a book called " what to expect when you are expecting" by Heidi Murkoff. It's the pregnancy bible and will help with all these questions. I refer to it almost daily right now and I am due Feb 2, 2007. Your question as well as many others that you would not expect is in there. It's excellent in describing all of these little things that worry moms and help distinguish when something is "normal" or not.
Good Luck!

Ok wait what does your weight have to do with abdominal crampws? It's common to have some cramping everyday as your uterus and ligaments are growing and stretching. If they become unbarable then you need to call the doctor or go to the ER to make sure nothing is wrong.

This is absoloutely normal though it can be worrisome if you don't know to expect it. It can be quite uncomfortable!

Now, if the cramps become severe, feel like they are coming at regular intervals (like, say, every 6 minutes for a while..just an example) or are accompanied by bleeding then you should call your doctor or midwife and get it checked out.

But, most likely it's exactly what you said: your uterus is growing to make way for baby! Congratulations and I hope you feel better soon.

Cramping that is similar to menstrual cramps occurs very early during pregnancy and happens when the uterus begins to expand to make room for the embryo to develop into a fetus that continues to develop for a total of 40 weeks gestation when your baby is born.

what do they feel like? Because your ligaments are stretching every day you become more pregnant and those cause pain in the abdominal area(but you didn't pinpoint whree and in that case it could be many other things cause there is more than just a uterous down there)...but most likely, ligamnet pains.

Yes it is common. They are called round ligament pains and they can get pretty painful. They feel like real bad cramps. I used to make sure I stood up slowly because it would feel like my uterus was tearing if I stood up too quickly.

yes and these pains will continue for the remainder of your pregnancy. They actually get worse, but you get used to them. just take your time and sit up slowly. Don't make sudden movements and relax. Its all in preperation for the lil one. Congratulations and God bless!!

IF YOU ARE AT ALL IN DOUBT CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR!!!!! Don't be embarrassed to ask your doctor anything. She's heard it all before. Don't risk your health or the health of your baby.
