I like eye makeup but do not really now what I'm doing with it. Is it lightest color under the brow, darkest color at the brow bone to the crease and the middle color on the lid? And what are the best color combinations for a tan complexion with dark features.. what color makes brown eyes pop? Also do people still use eyeliner and/or mascara on the bottom lid? Oh yeah and what kind of makeup is best regular powder/cake or the new cream or pencil kind of eyeshadow?

For the easiest day-time look:
Use a nice Taupey Brown. Pick a shade of brown that will show up on your skin but not too dark. (I have Olive skin and use a cocoa color) A Matte powder is the easiest to work with and more basic. For a night out you can add the sparkle later.

**Dab a good Eyeshadow Brush is the powder, and dab lightly on the back of your hand to get the excess off.
**Tilt head back, look down your nose and run it back and forth in the crease. Reapply once more or until you find a look you like.
**Use a Q-tip to correct any areas you overdid.
**Apply two coats of mascara in quick succession and voila! you're done. (Touch mascara wand [after doing top lashes] to bottom lashes briefly)

This look gives your eyes a more polished defined look. For evening add the liner and some shimmery powder in a lighter/coordinating shade to the brow bone. Blend well. For fun you can add that 3rd pop of color to the lid itself too. But sometimes less is more.

Oh and remember, Creamy shadows won't last as long if you have oily lids. Also, if you have oily skin anyway you may want to be careful with the sparkle/glitter products. These can accentuate any shine.

Experiment. Thats the best way to tell what looks good on you. You have a good basic idea. During the day(depending on situation)--its usually good to do natural makeup--light on the eyes(to make the eyes pop-use a light, subtle color on eyes and eyeliner). At night(again situation) then you can go a little darker on the eyes.

I have tried both and that i favor powder in basic terms because the liquid eyeshadow has a tendency to get sticky and messy. yet, i'd nonetheless provide it a attempt. to computer screen it on your eyes i'd get a tube form and squeeze about a pea length volume onto your index finger and then gently rub it on your eye. i take advantage of smokey colorations and purples(I have eco-friendly eyes). you may want to attempt vegetables and blues.

I would also suggest a trip to the good cosmetic department in the mall nearest you. Please book a session with the make up artist there. Usually it is free. For the scheduled appointment, bring the make-up supplies you have at home, so you buy only what you need immediately. The rest you write down on the back of his/her business card and buy it later, or put on your holiday wish list.
