How long before Denny died did he get the new heart? Why wasn't there a nurse with him? Could anything have been done to save him since he had a DNR on file?

Another question asked if Izzie should have been allowed back so these questions came to mind...

After triple bypass you get constant nursing so being alone as a heart transplant patient makese no sense! No way in real life that Izzie could have walked in and found him dead and alone.

I'm not emotional --- just curious by nature. These shows have medical people on staff to ensure realism hence my question.

Well even in real life a nurse or doctor does not stay in a patients room 24/7. So for many reason's this could have happened. They could have been at another emergency when Denny died. Accidents happen. And its a TV show, drama in the ER, in TV there can't be an answer for everything! It all happens for our eyes and not everyone looks so deeply into something for just entertainment purposes. I agree with you, don't get me wrong. I do this all the time with TV shows and movies I watch! Its called attention to detail and sometimes you can't get away from it!

1. His doctor was shot.

2. The doctor who did the surgery had to go back to her hospital.

3. The Chief was coerced into throwning a prom.

4. Bailey was at the prom.

5. Nothing says that he was alone, only that Izzie walked in after her ws already dead.

6. He had to cancel that DNR to have the heart surgery. That would be considered extraordinary means of health care.

7. It is not unusual for most heart patient to be placed in a room and left there to detox from the anesthesia for a day before the staff start torturing them again, making them get up and walk. Of course all the patients have portable heart monitors attached to them so that the nurses at the nurses station can see if they are having any problems.

8. And, normally a patient has more than one doctor, a general doctor or cardiologist should have been checking in on him as well.

Lily, after a heart transplant a patient doesn't wake up, smiles, sits up and smooches with his fiance either. He isn't really dead you know! I saw him on another show. Don't have a scar from open heart surgery either!
