Well I have a family of 6 and we pay
$800 for rent
$ 50 phone/internet
$ 60 cable
$ 75 average for electricity.
Now this is with an income of $3,500 per month

dont forget about city you live in too, if you live in NY or CA your rent will be higher and stuff will cost more.

my bills exceed over 3k monthly which includes mortgage & car. depends on how much you want to spend, what can you sacrifice and so on. like for example if you have a cell phone, forget the phone line, same goes with tv, instead of getting premium, get basic, etc, etc. instead of getting fastest online option, get the most basic. but then again thats just some suggestions. If you are moving out for the first time ( and its because you have no choice not because you want too, then just get the most basic utilities to survive and take it from there, do not over spend on useless utilities.) try to find a place that will cover gas, water, heat, electricity if possible.

for a home owner, conserve and saving electricity / gas / heat also helps save on bills. like turning off that light here and there when not in use, turning down the heat a little and putting on that extra sweater at home, even if its just 2 degrees you can save some money over the winter, better insulation will keep the heat inside. switch to energy saving bulbs.

as for food shopping since you are on your own, try buying only things that are onsale and use coupons if possible, try not to over indugle in urges / spur of the moment purchases unless your pregnant and you have a craving. just some tips. also shop smart, always look for bargains and sales whenever possible.

It depends on the costs associated with the house and the salaries of each person involved. There isn't enough information in this question.
