Good question. I don't think there is a right or wrong age. I got my ears peirced at the age of 9. Speaking from personal experience, at that time I wished that my Mom had done it when I was a baby. As much as I wanted to have my ears peirced, it was a very scary thing to have done at that age. They did one ear and it hurt a little and I was so scared to have the other ear done. Plus, all my friends at school had their ears peirced and I felt like such an outcast for not having mine peirced as well. If I had a little girl, I think I'd peirce her ears as a baby so she wouldn't have to go through all those same feelings I did as a little girl.

I had my daughters ears pierced at 3 months (she's 2 now) and If I ever had another daughter I dont think I would do it again (luckily I'm having a boy this time and dont have to worry about earrings lol) see I thought it would be better if she was smaller cause she wouldn't remember the pain and all of that so me and my daughters godmother took her first off i couldn't even watch I had to walk away my daughters godmother stayed with her and my poor baby screamed her little heart out ~it wasn't right for me to cause her pain for something as stupid as earrings I didn't know it was going to hurt her that bad or i wouldn't have done it She still has them in and her earrings are beautiful and all but maybe it's best to wait until their older and can make that decision for them self,if your daughter is still set on doing it some doctors offices to it,well where i live they do you could check into that I think it would be the safest cleanest place

I'm in the same group as you. I have not done it in a long time. However, I am sure the piercing booths or more likely a jewelery store may. If not I would wait until they are 4 or 5 and want it. It really isn't a neccessary pain like a circumcision.

I did my son's ear at 2 and after offered him and icy and he said "yes" and when I gave it to him he put it on his ear.

I hope you find what you want.

Good LUCK!

i had my little girls ears pierced when she was about 1 year old. i mainly waited because i didn't want to put her through the pain. she did very well when we did pierce them. she only cried for a second and then everything was fine. she is almost 3 and still has them pierced. she loves to get to pick out new earrings to wear. it's a lot of work to take care of them and you also want to make sure they aren't at the stage where they are pulling at their ears and hair. don't want her tearing the earring out.

You can usually do it after their second set of shots. The malls have places where you can get their ears peirced you just need to supply proof of shot record. When I had mine done some 30+ years ago my mother had to take me to a doctor to have them done because it wasnt so readily available in our area

I dunno what the "right" age is as many people have different opinions about it. I know a little girl who just got hers done and she is 3 months old, another little girl I know got hers done at 9 months.I plan on getting my daughters done next month for her first birthday. My cousin had her daughters done by the time they were 6 weeks old.So just go with what you think is the best time or talk to her peditricion.

My daughter got hers done when she chose to and it was her responsibility to put the solution on and turn them although she had to be reminded occasionally. I didn't realize that places are no longer doing it at such a young age but it does seem like fewer babies have their ears pierced. Waiting til they are older allows it to be the child's choice and responsibility.

You should not make such a personal decision for your child. When they decide they want their ears pierced, then take them. But at least give them the option of choosing. You take all of the fun out of being a kid and you force them to "grow up" long before they are ready. Ease up Mom (Grandmom) and back off.
