had my honeymoon there back in 1988 n revisited it thrice with kid then kids again ! if you likes sea n beaches then you should loves it too !

Since you have been to Penang, Tioman doesn't offer those modern facilities[no bus or taxi, no banks] you enjoyed as in Penang, except the one n only bus provided by Tioman Island Resort for their guest, some chalets do have their own van] but the beaches are much more beautiful, from Salang[quite crowded right now with lots of chalets n dive centre], Tekek[with a small airport so you can fly there too], Kg Genting, Kg Nipah, Kg Mukut n Kg Juara. Snokeling, diving or just laze on the beach would be the best acitivities, people are friendly but they may not be able to speak good English. Boat ride/ferry from Mersing[mainland Malaysia] to Tioman was RM35 per person one way but would be included in your island package if you choose so.

There are so many hotels/chalets/resorts available, from 5 stars to budget/backpack, mostly at beach front. As of food, beside those available at the hotel/chalet, there is a foodcourt at Tekek's jetty which served some very good, fresh n cheap sea food ! Shopping? sorry, very little on Tioman.

You too can visits some others as beautiful islands around Tioman, such as Rawa, Sibu, Permanggil, Aur n Tinggi.

unfortunately you can't go to Tioman at this moment as its the year end monsoon season, next year end February or early March would be ok !

please try [www.island.com.my] to find out more n details of some wonderful islands available in Malaysia !

There are better places in Malaysia for your honeymoon. Tioman is fine, but not much more. If you want special, you need to look at Langkawi, Pangkor Laut and Terrenganu to start with.

Try the following website for some of the most special hotels in Malaysia:

I prefer Langkawi. It's a non-touristy, quieter version of Penang and way more beautiful than Tioman. Fab beaches, and if you stay close to town - the Pelangi Beach, the Holiday Villas etc - there's more than enough to keep you entertained. For really special, the Tanjung Rhu, the Andaman and the Datai are amazing. The island is absolutely stunning and there are hundreds of deserted islands dotting the area - you can take a day trip out to one of these and just chill - it's fab. Try Bon Ton for a really good meal - there's a nice bar there too. It's also worth taking a trip up the cable car - the views are fantastic!

KL is a great idea. You'll want to stay around Bukit Bintang for the best hotels and good access to the whole city - there's not much around the KLCC apart from the Mandarin, and that's not as good as it was. I'd recommend the Westin, the Regent or the Coronnade depending on your budget.

Try Bangsar for bars and restaurants and for the night market on Sundays, Heritage Row for cool bars and clubs. Zouk is the superclub and has international DJs pretty much all the time, although Velvet Underground on Wednesdays is 80's music (more my scene). China Town - Petaling Street - is great for shopping and knock offs, and Bukit Bintang is great for just shopping - there are loads of food markets in the area where you can try all the local delicacies.

Have a wonderful time, and don't forget to tell your airline that you're honeymooners. If you don't get an upgrade, you should at least get champagne!

Its really nice but kinda quiet and I would recommend going there but limiting the time and spending time in other places. I also found the port town of Mersing, where you get the boat, quite nice.

You proably don't want to travel too much but consider Pennang (tourist island), Cameron Highlands (Great Jungle walks in cooler climate). KL is great but a big city and tiring after a few days.

It's nice but don't go there for more than a few days cos there's not a lot to do (unless you like to lie on a beach and read a book). I stayed at Berjaya Resort, many years ago. I think it's the biggest resort there and might be 4 star. Check their website

KL has more to do ie shopping and eating.

My recommendation however, would be Singapore. In my view it's a much nicer place because it is cleaner, and easier to move around on public transport. Shopping is better too, but a bit more expensive. You can squeeze many things into one day because the place is small and easy to get around.

You can get to Tioman very easily from Singapore in a few hours by fast boat. That's what I did. It is easy to buy a 3D/2N package from there and it's not very expensive once you convert to GBP.

Tioman is good for 3D 2N. You can either snorkel or dive there. Arrangements can be made. Transactions are done in Ringgit Malaysia (RM). Nice and quiet place but depending on which part of Tioman you're staying at. I stayed at Paya Beach Resort. Is a very quiet place with basic necessities. Room rates are reasonable.

tioman is great. i've been there before. tioman is great for me if u go with ur family or friends... for honeymoon i think better u go to Pangkor or Perhentian. More privacy. Tioman got same privacy like Pangkor & Perhentian but i dunno why i think it is not suitable for honeymoon...
