I had sex for the first time shortly before halloween, ended my period on halloween, took the morning after pill on Nov. 1 (was warned that there might be spotting a day or two after taking it), and started what appears to be another period Nov. 5. It's just as heavy as my normal period and seems to be exactly the same. Is this because I had sex, because I took the morning after pill, because I'm not normal? I was afraid that the pill didn't work... does this mean I'm not pregnant?

It was taken with a doctor's prescription and they mentioned the likely hood of spotting; however, they suggested that it would occur sooner than it did. Also, what I am experiencing now, I would not call spotting if for no reason other than the fact that it has lasted for almost three days now at a heavy consistency.

My periods previously have been normal and I by no means just started. The came regularly at the end of every month for the past four and half years.

I hope this provides a little more information and helps some answers. I have a follow up with the doctor later this week but am fairly unsure of what to ask or expect

Yes, it is normal to have a period after taking the morning after pill. The pill is basically a high dose of hormones that makes your body think its almost period time.....in a round about way. Unfortunatly, it isn't a sure bet you are not pregnant, but a good indicator. You really just need to follow up with your dr. Good luck......be safer next time...:)

First of all, you should not be taking the " morning after " pill without either a doctor's supervision or a prescription.

You didn't mention if you have been having your periods regularly or not. Have you recently started just having your periods ? It isn't unusual for a girl to have a lot of spotting without a real period bleed if her body is just starting up.

Your question is vague and disjointed. Collect your thoughts and your information with dates.

YES! That is the way it works. If you had an implanted egg (pregnant) then it removes it from the body. It would be a good idea for you to study a little about how your body works and especially your sexual reproductive system.

It's good you have a follow-up apt. with your doc.
You could always get an OTC pregnancy test in the interim, to be sure.
Every woman's body differs in terms of reaction & healing time.

YO! Yodeladyhoo, I read that she had a prescription, and "They" meaning I assume, the DOCTOR said, blah blah blah. I also found the original question to be well-stated and quite clear.
Why people are so quick to JUMP on other people, IDK.
