It's not everything but it is a means to an end. You need money to be comfortable and Americans especially enjoy their creature comforts.

Money does not equal happiness but it's one less thing to be sad about if you have it.

Good LUCK!

while it is true that many people across the cultutres and regions of the world run after money it has been scientifically proven often times that money does not bring real happiness. One should read the excellent essay by Bertrand Rusell written well over a century ago and holds good even today. Again the so called 3rd world or developing countries like India, people in various surveys report much greater levels of happiness and contentment than the wealthy western countries, where material comforts are much valued and chased after. Every body should read the brief story of Buddha who was a king and gave up everything to become a monk and attained true 'nirvana' or enlightenment.

It is true that 'Money' is not everything is life... but as said everyone do go behind it, I think it has all got to do with how all of us are brought up. We grow up with an illusion that if we have money, we can get anything in this world. Often we are not taught nor do we learn from what we see around the world, that there are a few like 'mental peace', 'whole hearted happiness', 'true love','good nature' and so many such, which cannot be obtained even if you are the most richest person on earth, unless you have a true will and attitude to get it. And if man gets that desire to learn how to obtain inner peace, etc, I think, money would become secondary to him.

Money itself is worthless, nothing but paper. It's what the money can buy. Clothes, a car, nice things.
In the end, though, you're buying the things to buy respect, admiration, and envy from those around you. That's what you're buying. And people want that because they've discovered that's the easiest way to get it.
They don't have to earn it by doing good things or by being someone truly special. They can cut corners and just buy it.
That's a real pity.

i don't completely understand all of your question, but to answer the part i do, money isn't everything in life. if you have all the necessities in life, and notice i said necessities not wants, i think love from your family is more important. I've know people who had lots of money and pampered their kids to death, but did not spend real time with them and the kids really weren't happy because they felt their parents were just getting rid of them instead of spending time with them; and that's what they really wanted; their parents time.

This is the way people are. They say one thing, and they behave another thing. The brain say one thing, the heart another. Why were flip-flops slippers invented? to show how we flip-flop from one state of mind to another.

People who are quick to speak don't think very well. They are not wise assessors of situations. They think too highly of themselves most of the time, even if they say they are not, because it is shown in their behavior.

Because so many people erroneously believe that the one who wins is the one who dies with the most toys. Of course the truth is that the one who wins is the one who has the most time to play with the toys they have.

people are not running only after money.
they have to get money to live, support kids, and do things they enjoy.
i see people going to do things (that usually require money) that they enjoy.
it's pretty hard to get everything you want in life without money.
