If the particular species of larva was that of a dung beetle, putting one in the ear of your average liberal would, in effect, be presenting it with a feast. Otherwise, the average "maggot" feeds on dead flesh. As a matter of fact, maggots have been used quite successfully historically in the therapeutic cleaning of infected wounds prior to the advent of effective antibiotics.

It sounds like a lovely place for him to turn into a fly. Maggots only eat decayed tissue so they would be unlikely to eat you, unless you have a lot of decayed tissue in your ear perhaps.

Maggots only eat dead or diseased flesh, so it will just sit there in the warm and eventually wriggle it's way out.
(It won't produce babies because it is an infant itself.)

I intend that the maggot should clean my ear instead of making it a toilet

That's a stupid question. maggots only eat dead flesh. So if it were in your ear you wouldn't feel it.

You could put one in each ear and they would tunnel to get to each other, that would be a story to tell the grandkids..

So maybe that's why these darn flies keep flying out of my mouth. I'm going to quit doing that. Flossing doesn't seem to help.

id take it out, and put pins in it, then, when its really struggling, get my lighter and BOOM blow him away.
i dunno if this works with maggots, but i took the legs of an ant and put my lighter on it, it flew about 30 cm, clasic 5 minutes of fun.
