Go-Carts are always fun and a movie and lunch. If, you have an Imax theater check out what they have going. Could just do some fishing, catch and release then you not have to clean them. The weather is getting a little chilly, but, could rent a boat for an hour or two and sight-see the trees changing colors and take a few pictures, dress warm or layered so you can add remove clothes depending on temp. This a few I can think of off hand.

Hello!! Well, I giess that depends on what type of a mother you are. I know someone who took her son to a concert that she had been wanting to go to, and they both had a great time. Is there a band you are interested in? Not all concerts are full of loud obnoxious drunks. It just depends on who you go to see.
How about sports? Is there a sporting event either of you enjoy? You should figure out something that both of you could or would possibly enjoy. There is a lot to do! Maybe travel? It doesnt have to be half way across the world. There is a lot to see and do in many places. As long as you are together it will be special. Maybe ask him!! Good luck ;-)

Why don't u guys go away for a holiday or something. If you don't have the finances it could merely be a day on mom. Treat him breakfast, lunch & dinner, movie, party...wtv. Or if itz cool with you and if the legal age there is 18, you could buy him a ??? or get him a??? yeah u know what i'm talkin bout, use your imagination.. Good Luck. A boys best freind will always be his mom, so don't let it bother you, if he doesn't like what you do.

Go someplace together that is a totally new and different experiece for both of you....something very youth oriented that he will be excited about and something that will make you feel adventureous too.......like dinner at a trendy place and some sort of performance afterward like a concert or trendy play.
If that is not for you, try something outdoors that is available in your area that is cutting edge or new to the both of you.

Consider a small adventure together. How about a hot-air balloon ride? Fun, quality time together that he won't find boring, and it's something the two of you will always remember.
You can look forward to it together and it doesn't last all day/night, so he can go out with friends later and celebrate in his own, 18-yr-old way. ;-)
Good luck!

Write him a letter telling him how you felt on the day he was born and your thoughts and feelings while raising him--how he's changed your life. Have a really nice lunch, give him the letter, and let him enjoy his 18th birthday night with his friends. That would be a really special day.

Leave him alone, an eighteen year old doesn't want to be with his mom on his birthday.
Find something nice to do on your own.
On second thoughts, I would go with TP's suggestion below.
