Yes it is the law in the UK. You cannot let a child leave (unless to an adult guardian) before the age of 16 and neither can they leave of their own free will. The police will return them to home xx

This is true. If your child is out of hand you can put them in over night into juvenile detention and sometimes they need it. Especially with the attitudes of today's kids. They can drop out of school when they are 16 if they have a job but they can't just tell theire parents to kiss ther butt and think there is no consequence. Make them wards of the state. JV until 18.

Basically it's true but a 16 yr old could go to court and become "emancipated." But, the 16 yr old has to show that they are capable of their own support. There are some other conditions but it may vary from state to state. I know that a biggie is the reason why a 16 yr old wants to become emancipated.
If abused, they would more than likely be placed in foster care (which could be a relative).

17-if the person has means,(part-time/full-time job-or on benefits),and a roof over their head,(Y.M.C.A,youth hostel, bed and breakfast, etc). The police are obliged to check the teen every 3 month's whilst 17.Sources are:Met police,Childline,N.S.P.C.C.,local social security office.I was told at childline that this is,in fact,a grey area, and that there are no hard and fast rules concerning this...as long as it does not border on "neglect".My eldest son,who is 15,is so determined to leave home at 17,we are starting to gather all available information. We do not have any major problems as a family-it is just what he wants to do when the time is right.

"each and all of the gorgeous Horses" via Cormac McCarthy is a particularly quiet e book, easily, (no longer lots communicate) in spite of the undeniable fact that it somewhat is best writing and an excellent tale, with subculture conflict being part of it. try some British crime novels... Arthur Conan Doyle, Agatha Christie, P.D. James (particular), Ruth Rendell... all experts at what they do. Hmm. I only assumed you at the instant are not in great Britain. I shouldn't!

You can leave home at 16 with parental consent (legally) but i suppose you can leave home at any age as long as the police are not alerted to it.

Speaking from a personal experience-yes it is true. You are not legally an adult til 18. If you try leaving the house before 18 you are labeled a runaway.

It is correct. In England you are not deemed an adult until eighteen. In Scotland it is sixteen. It depends which part of the world you are in of course. In general, most western countries hold it at age eighteen.
