That was actually one of the first signs for me that I was pregnant! I sit in an office all day, and when I would sit for long periods of time and then stand up, do something and then sit back down, I couldn't! I was in so much pain! I would have to ease myself down and grin and bare it till the pain went away. I looked online and they said it could be related to pregnancy, and well, I was pregnant!
I read in one of my pregnancy books that it is usually cause by a previous injury. For me that is true, because I have scoliosis, but it can just happen to some women during pregnancy. There is a lot of pressure being put on your tailbone, so that can cause some of the pain (even in early pregnancy there is some pressure). Try getting a pillow to sit on. I got one from a back store and it works great! Also, try and not sit for too long if you can. Maybe get up every once in a while and do some stretches or walk around if you can. That helps me also.
Good luck and congrats on the pregnancy! I know it may hurt now, but we just gotta think that in the end, it will all be worth it! :)

Yes, I had alot of tail bone pain around 6 weeks. Even at the start of pregnancy your body produces hormones that start to losen the joints in your hips and pelvis area and the tailbone pain is from the changes going on in your pelvis. It should resolve in afew weeks, however, I continues to have pain in my hips throughout my pregnancy

Yes this can happen anytime to anyone, but often happens with pregnant women, because of the extra weight.
