1. Drain the radiator of fluid. There should be a valve at the bottom of radiator for this purpose.
2. Follow the top hose from radiator to engine block, thermostat is located there.
3. Remove the two bolts holding the metal head to engine block.
4. Lift head off engine block, remove old t-stat.
5. Clean both surfaces, remove any old gasket material from engine block or head assembly.
6. Install new gasket (or o-ring) and t-stat on engine block.
7. Reinstall head assembly and replace bolts.
8. Replace anti-freeze solution to radiator.
9. Test system for leaks. Run engine to heat up coolant and open up t-stat, recheck fluid level. You may do this with radiator cap off.
10. Enjoy the heat!!!!!

The Service manual or the Haynes service manual will have a description of how to do it. I don't know of anywhere that publishes a free description.

If you look on ebay, you should find a cheap used one, or go to a good bookstore and read up on the subject right there in the store. It's probably not too difficult a job, but you could take notes on it if you need to.

look at jeep.com you can probably get a blown you diagram of you're engine that will show you how to fix it. or ask your mech. he or she can tell you how to change it out. or a reliable friend could help youas well.
