Women are usually the primary carers of children so when women are influential (as in Sri Lanka) healthcare, clean water, and education are likely to move up among development priorities.

In very poor countries, women having access to contraception is a necessary part of reducing population growth.

Concerns like female circumcision (especially in Somalia), rape/torture/murder of women, "honour" killings (esp in Middle East).

In China, the disastrous social consequences of the one-child-per-family-only policy are mostly due to the social prejudice in favour of boy children. Girl infanticide and too many young men now are among the problems. Yet still the women do not have the power.

Where there is arranged marriage, e.g. India, who gets to do the arranging? Are women's priorities in picking a mate for their child different from men's?

Think about dowry cultures too.

Think of countries where women's or girls' access to education is less than boys' and of places like Sandy Arabia where women are not allowed to drive.

Condier this. Is it the case that countries where women have had over the past 30-40 years nearly as good access to health, education and jobs, meaning cultural as well as formal access, are the countries that have most embraced the modern economy? Malaysia... Thailand.... S Korea.... Chile.... Mexico... Turkey... Portugal.... is it a coincidence, or just my impression, that this is so or are there facts to prove it? What about China? What about a country where sexist culture clashes with formal equality e.g. Cuba?

Perhaps you should write your own essay instead of having us do it for you. Would that be ok?
