First figure the prime factors of each:
88 / 2 = 44
44 / 2 = 22
22 / 2 = 11
11 / 11 = 1

So 88 = 2 x 2 x 2 x 11

104 / 2 = 52
52 / 2 = 26
26 / 2 = 13
13 / 13 = 1

So 104 = 2 x 2 x 2 x 13

The common factors are all combinations of 2 x 2 x 2.

The common factors are therefore:
1, 2, 4, 8 (several people forgot 1 as a common factor).

(And the *greatest* common factor is 8.)

88= 2**2*2*11
104= 2*2*2*13
so common factors are
2, 2*2=4 and 2*2*2 = 8
