I do about 20 stupids things everyday, so i laugh at myself a lot, all my friends laugh at themselves, most people who do something stupid laugh at themselves unless its something serious like steal or something thats not funny. Like today in gym class we're playing football and I was trying to punt the ball and I kicked myself in the head with the fall, well that wasnt a good example because I remembered that football is different here, ok different story, I said the Nile river was in China in Global History today then I relized what I said, and in lunch today my mouth was full of water and I had to cough all of a sudden I just spit it all out on the table, I'm a dork.

I do it all the time. But in my case there is so much material with which to work!
Seriously, as an American, I have observed certain things about us that make us unique relative to other country's cultures. For example, right or wrong, we tend to view ourselves as the world's policemen and I think that is sometimes a source or laughter.....you gotta laugh or else you might cry.

I laugh at myself all the time. I fell down the stairs at school and as others laughed, so did I. I certainly don't take myself seriously. It's not fun!

Generally and stereotypically speaking, once upon a time they couldn't, but now I think they are starting to get there. I think its a good thing.
Laughing at yourself is important. It shows appreciation of ones flaws and quirks, but also a level of comfort with them.
They could also get some perspective on seeing human breasts on the super bowl, it really ISN'T the end of the world

they can;t laugh at themselves because the jokes are too sophisticated for them.
That's why Sasha Baron Cohen is able to do what he does with Borat and Marco and Ali G.

We laugh at our selves in my house all the time and so do all of our friends. Life is too short to be serious all the time, you have a better time if you can alugh at the stupid stuff we do everyday! Have a good one!

I dunno, programs like South Park and films like Team America prove that at least some Americans can laugh at themselves.
(Well at least Matt Stone and Trey Parker can anyway.)
