Actually child laws in the US allow for children to work in a family business and either be home schooled or given an alternate education format.
Keep in mind there are alot of family farms where the same thing goes on - you just don't see it. Some studies say that home schooling is better than public education anyway.

Hey my daughter is seventeen. She is five feet nothing and weighs about 105 pounds soaking wet. She looks so young that when we went to Applebees the waitress gave her a crayon cup.(Boy she was MAD!) These kids could very well be of working age and simply be small and young looking for their age. In most states if a kid is sixteen they can legally drop out of school . Or like the other posters stated maybe they are being home schooled.

Yes, in America we have child labor laws, and laws which insist on children receiving an education. However, children can in some cases work in family run business and receive in home schooling. which follows guidelines. God bless

It would be a violation of labor laws as children should be in school, but the children could be older. You could always make an anonymous call to the Labor Board about them.
