I am asking the question in all sincerity and good faith - it does surprise me why they are not making the best use of their sensitive and incisive mind (so high in EQ as well) for public good, for that is what politics is really meant for.

The consensus seems to be that women could indeed make all the difference needed, but the bullying men wouldn't let them in!! Is that not a question mark on their skills mentioned? I think, women do shun professional politics - perhaps due to the risks involved?

While I don't necessarily agree with the descriptor "manipulative", I would agree that---as a whole---women generally tend to know what they have to do to get what they want!
As for why women are underrepresented in political professions, I offer three suggestions for reasons.
1) Old-fashioned notions related to hormonal behavior and thinking. "She is PMS'ing" "She is hysterical"
2) Playing team sports while growing up, and/or having served in the military fosters a team player mentality. The "good ole boy" or even esprit de corps network is significantly more in place for men. Even if a woman has those experiences, hers are not perceived to be as extensive as those of men.
3) I think women---as a whole---have thinner skins than men. Politics is a nasty/dirty, partisan business and becoming more so all the time. I think they are less willing to allow opponents and the press to search for skeletons in their closets.

Unfortunately, it is not the women that shun politics, but more that politics shun women. I know this sounds strange but it has been said more than once in mixed company that there will be a black man as president before there will be a woman. Do I think this is right? no. Would I care either way? no. I actually think it would do us all some good if we (the U.S.) run by a person that was either or both, black and female. It would seem to me that a new perspective is what we need. I think this would address issues that are overlooked by wasp men. I also think that if these things were overlooked by a person of another demographic, then maybe we all could get passed the thinking that the "president doesn't care about us". If a president of similar demographics had been in office we would not have heard those remarks

Politics is a man's sport. Have you watched Parliamentary debates? It has always been the same.
It is similar to business - men in business would generally rather call a meeting about a problem than crack on with it.
Women deal with things much more efficiently - and to think of standing up and having a shouting match about it really doesn't make sense. Which is why much of politics is absolutely useless and the people who practice it even more so.
If women were to be involved in serious decision making, yes we would be using all of our abilities to effect change - too bad we have to raise children. We just hope they turn out bright enough to see through all of the posturing and showing-off carried out by insecure bullies who are abusing their positions of power and influence.
It shouldn't surprise you - I think you're intelligent enough to work it out.

both women and men have their own special skills in earthly survival games. but women have to use their extra skills more on making men fit for politics. wemen are administrators and men are executors.

women have got the skills you mentioned but unfortunately most women cannot stand the test of time and pressure. ability to manipulate and manoeuver does not make the woman competent.

Where have you been??? the world is still basically a "good Ole boy's club" so it's hard for woman to make inroads...even in this day and age.

They don't shun it - they are kept out of it by men with enough money to do so.
