HELP!! I always get yeast infections and I am trying to find the source. This morning I read that increasing your blood sugar level will give you a yeast infection. Well, Saturday and Sunday all I did was eat sweets (cookies and candy). Now, I have a yeast infection - could this be the cause?

Yes, absolutely. Yeast loves a "sweet" environment and spiking your blood sugar in the sky will definitely bring on overgrowth of yeast. The increased sugar gives them food to grow.

The first thing you need to do if you have not already is talk to your doctor about frequent infections. You want to make sure that is what it is, and talk to him/her about ways to prevent.

If you know this is what they are, and haven't received much help in prevention from your doctor, then try these tips:

1. Watch your sweets for a while. Eat a balanced diet and only eat a small amount of sweets after a meal so your blood sugar stays even.
2. Eat yogurt...the enzymes in the active yogurt cultures prevent yeast overgrowth. Make sure on the side of the yogurt container says "active" yogurt cultures, otherwise it won't help.
3. Wear cotton underwear, and don't make it tight.
4. Don't wear tight pants on a regular basis.
5. If you wear pantyhose, wear them with cotton underwear. Nylon traps moisture, giving a method for yeast to grow.
6. Keep area clean and dry.
7. Don't douche...that is the best way to bring on a yeast infection.

Hope I helped.

YES! To many sweets can abnormal your vaginal cells/moisture level.

You need to eat yogurt daily. Its a cure for me! It balances it off, the sugar in your system.

Just use yogurt as your new candy! Activia, heard of that one. In the green packaging.
Another one is Kefir. A drinkable yogurt.

For now, get to store and buy the yogurt, plenty of it! Eat it, don't apply it. Get Monistat too! The overnight one is good.

Quit pigging out on sweets before you destroy your teeth as well!

Recent antibiotic use can trigger Vagina Yeast Infections as well as overloading the sugar!
