Can anyone give me a good program to run that will get rid of all viruses? Is there any certain keys in my registry that i can delete that may belong to bad spyware or viruses? Popups with my bowser closed is the problem i suffer from. They take over my desktop.

Hi there,

Looking at the latest mainstream protection scores it's currently Kaspersky that comes out on top (although seems to generate a high number of false positives), ahead of McAfee and then Norton. However, these scores are all currently dwarfed by another program called Prevx1. This is an all-in-one-solution that protects against all forms of infection (virii, spyware, adware, trojans, rootkits, etc), and has proven to have the strongest protection and clean-up capabilities of all security products available today.

Besides being inherently stronger than conventional security products, Prevx1 also protects against new malware threats that most popular security products do not. Regular security products have to catch a new piece of malware, test it in the laboratory, before creating a signature and making it available for their product to download to your PC - probably once a day at best. During this time, your PC is not protected. Prevx1 however, works in a completely unique way meaning it defends your PC from new malware from the instant it is first seen anywhere in the world - even without signatures and downloadable updates.

This alone is what makes Prevx1 currently the best security solution you can get.

Side Note:

I honestly wouldn't waste your time with programs such as AVG, Spybot and Adaware.

The number of people who have AVG, adaware and Spybot installed but then get confused as to why they have been infected is increasing by the day. In all seriousness, these programs (especially spybot and adaware) are no longer good enough to be your only protection against viruses, spyware and adware (as well as trojans, rootkits and other nasties). They used to be great programs a couple of years ago, but have now been overtaken by programs with next-generation approaches.

Everyone thinks AVG is amazing because it's free, but if you take a look at the latest protection figures you will find AVG comes virtually last - a LONG way behind the rest.

People who recommend these programs need to update their security knowledge.

No antivirus program can get rid of all viruses; only because new viruses are created daily. But, they do try to find a fix as quidkly as possible. That is why it is important today to update your antivirus DATs daily.

The one I have been using for years: AVG free from www.grisoft.com

For pop-ups, you can get several different programs. adaware, popup stopper, etc. They all work similar, many are free. Go to www.download.com for choices.

Unless you know your way around the Registry, don't try to delete viruses, trojans and other malware by the keys. Accidentally delete the wrong key, and you will loose Windows. But, yes, if you know what you are looking for, and where, go ahead. This is best done if a virus doesn't allow an antivirus program to run.

Use AVG Virus scanner to scan for viruses.
Use Ewido Virus Scanner to scan for spywares.

Ewido can be downloaded at

AVG Virus scanner can be downloaded at

Don't worry about the registry entries. If there are any annony, mous entries in the registryu the spyware scanner will take care about it. Also try Ad Aware.

AVG anti-virus software comes highly rated; it's better than either McAfee or Norton and is a FREE download, which has less functionality than a full version but is sufficient for any home user:

when you get alot of pop-ups that really drive you nut's it's because you gave out your emai address to one of those free tv or computer ads.we are the one's who mess up.i know i've had to redo my computer twice no because of it.be careful giving out your address.last time i deleted my address from yahoo and got a new one.course you lose everything in that address.what i do is get a new address first and tranfer everything i want to keep.then cancel the old account.this works for me.
