Well, I think being gay is certainly natural. And it could also be acquired. The two are not mutually exclusive.
By natural, do you mean genetic? Or something that happens when a foetus is still in its mother's womb? Because some people say that it has to do with an exposure to certain hormones in the mother's womb.
I have to admit, I like the way it sounds to say, "Being gay is an acquired taste." Think of the potential for recruiting slogans: "Being gay, it's a matter of good taste!" hehehehe. Just kidding.
For me, it wasn't acquired.

Its is naturally acquired given the right social circumstances. So yes it is a natural phenomenon but it also depends on the overall sexuality of the individual - some people are born full of testosterone whiles have hardly any because of physical or chemical deficiencies. Some babies have virtually no genitalia and that makes a huge difference.

I believe that homosexuality is natural. If it was something that was acquired by upbringing, etc, then why would do we have such things as gay animals. If it occurs in nature, then I'm sure that is more of a natural occurance, rather than acquired or a so-called "choice".

It is acquired. They were not 'born' that way. Because if that is the case, it should be a recognized mental illness, that they could get help for. Otherwise.......take it for what it is. It is a sexual preference, that instead of exercising self control over, and doing what the societal majority do........they choose to indulge in that appetite and engage in immoral sexual/romantic relationships with people of the same sex. In a sense it is no different than a sexual dysfunction........again, a mental illness.
It is CHOICE.....NOT something born with.

it's a natural, genetic occurrence. no one can "acquire" homosexuality. if that were true, I wouldn't be. all the "reasons" people use to claim that people can be "turned" gay/lesbian, don't apply to most of us...at least not to anyone I know. I was born to straight parents (as we all are), I was not abused/molested/raped. I didn't know anyone gay/lesbian growing up, nor did I until long after I realized I was. I've never been "hurt" by a man because I never was interested in men that way, so I never dated any men. so, how could environment have any role in my being lesbian? it doesn't!

well, according to research more than half (about 53%) of identical twins (i.e. people with the exact same DNA) are gay if their brother/sister is as well. clearly, that indicates that genetics plays a big part, but since it isn't 100% that would indicate that environment plays a part too. it's a combination of both.

why is it important to debate the issue of gay by acquiring a preference for homosexual behavior or being born with the pedisposition to homosexuality.
i believe gays, lesbians, and bisexuals are born genetically designed to mature with their sexual preference already mapped out. there's absolutely nothing that can be done to alter this reality.
as an american society, we place too much emphasis on is he/she gay or not. who really cares? everyone is thirsting for sexual activity, whether it be will the opposite sex or the same sex, urges need to be satisfied.
a person's gender identity doesn't make that person inferior or superior to the opposite lifestyle. everyone should be FREE to practice heterosexuality or homosexuality without all the hype regarding: why, sinfullness, labels, prejudices, etc.

Depends on the individual.
To say a blanket, "you are born with it" does not express the totality of people's experiences. Otherwise, what are the odds that so many young people who are molested also happened to be genetically gay? For some it is indeed a lifestyle choice, there may be a pre-disposition to homosexuality, but humans are not animals subject only to the whims of genetics.
