can anyone help i have water running out of a small pipe behind the main shower hose,is my shower knackered?

Your pressure relief valve has blown! depending on the make model of shower it will have to be replaced or reset. You may a have a blocked sprayhead or some other obstruction.

Its the pressure relief device ( PRD )
Its a small diaphram made of rubber and it ruptures when there is too much water pressure or the shower head gets blocked or needs cleaning.
You need to replace this before it can be used again.
It sounds like a triton shower so ring them and buy a new one .
They are very fast with delivery.

Depends what make it is. I know triton and GAinsborough ones have a small washer that wears over a period of time nad needs replacing. It might be that and if so only costs pennies to replace. Call the manufacturers technical helpline and they will tell you and can supply the washer you need if it is that xx

your shower is clogged up with limescale, inside the small copper drum that heats the water up,thats why its thorwing water out of the over flow.

Probably NOT. Turn off isolater valve, sometimes in hotpress, or roof void disassemble, and investigate.

In my expert opinion as a DIY 'er i would say you have a leak that should not be there, get it fixed
