Because at the moment, the head they are using isn't capable of thinking rationally.
It's both the man and womens responsibility equally to make sure this doesn't happen. Birth control comes in many forms. But, if it does, then both parties are or should be part of the childs life. It's just easier for a man to walk away since they dont have to go through the pregnancy. Out of sight out of mind sort of thing. The only thing you can do is make them finacially responsible, you cant make them want to be a father. You can only be a good mother and try to love the child enough for you both. Unfortunately, our justice system makes it too easy for the absent parent. A weekly or monthly check isn't replacement for a parent. Just because they fathered a child doesnt make them "daddy". That has to come from the heart.

Hope this helps...have a good day !!!!

I think I have to side with the guy that everyone is getting offended with. While his wording was harsh, the person asking the question didn't feel the need to elaborate or specify that "some men" do this. There are certainly "some women" who absolutly DO trick guys into getting pregnant or hope it will answer their relationship problems. Stupid and immature...but it's kinda hard to unthrow that stone you know? So then when the same guy that has been distant and maybe cheating on them is all of a sudden told they will be a father and the woman hopes that the guy will be the answer to her prayers and the baby will solve everything...

I am just saying...don't blame the guy for a messed up relationship. It takes the same words for a guy or a girl to suggest/demand/bring up a condom. But only a girl can be on the pill...

This is a question my husband can't understand either. I raised my daughter alone for 6 years... and she never met her 'father'. But now, she has the best "Dad" in the whole world.

As far as opening my legs for someone I didn't know... hmmm. Glad to hear that person has never been lied to.

Not every person in this world has the drive to live an honest life, and sometimes, people will pretend to be someone they're not. Maybe just to get into bed, maybe because their lives are so sad they try to escape it...

Being a parent is an overwhelming responsibility. I think it separates the men from the boys. Unfortunately, there's no true litmus test - except keeping your eyes wide open, and waiting until that man makes a commitment to you. (IE, marriage) But that's still no guarantee.

My husband is one of those men who, even at the age of 24 was ready and willing to stick to his commitments. It meant a horrible relationship for 6 years, but he did what he had to, to be a part of his son's life.

Highbeam: why would a woman open her legs.....? Let me tell you; men will sometimes (not all men, but alot) will sometimes tell a woman anything to get her into bed. And tell you with such conviction, that anyone would believe them. So that is not an excuse and a very poor answer to the question.
But to add my two cents to the question...there are many reasons. Usually it boils down to selfishness, they don't want to give up any part of themselves or their lifestyle to raise the child they helped create.

Any guy can be a father of a child. That's easy and doesn't take much in the area of brains.

However, it takes a great man to be a Dad to that child. Dedication, devotion and pride.

I am the proud Father and Dad to my three little girls. I want to instill into each of them the qualities of what makes a great man before the climb into bed with them. I also hope they save themselves for the right man.

I am sorry about your experience. Not all men are bad.

Probably because their mamas spoiled them and made them selfish. Some have addictions and don't care about any one else. Men who do not want to be responsible for kids but want to have sex should just have themselves clipped instead of putting the child and mother in a sad situation.

Why do many women have unprotected sex which obviously can lead to pregnancy with someone who isn't committed to either them or their relationship and then are amazed when the man takes off when a baby comes into the picture?

Not allowing yourself to get into a no-win situation in the first place is the best preventative measure there is.

first of all, female human beings are called women. Secondly, some men (and women too) are just bad people, who have no morals or sense of responsibility. Abandoning a child is inexcusable behavior
