As the sealing process is on I want to know does law practice at home is also considered a commercial activity in residential area.
Is putting a sign board of Lawyer at home an objectionable act.
Is there any specification for the size of such sign boards for Lawyers, showing address, phone numbers and qualifications.

If it is a truly residential area it would be in bad taste to put the sign up.

Local ordinances vary but most important is subdivision indenture and the by laws.

Some allow work from home with small board. Some allow just the practise, but no big trucks coming on regular bases, and no signs lots of people are working from home for various reasons.

First check the subdivision by laws, then indenture then zoning and then city statute. The practice may be govern itself, by a requirement to display proper size sign(big enough/public procteaction law). This may not be apply if you have a main office or other office else where.

My advice is be a good neighbour, if a lawyer neighbour has the sign and it is not in any way in any ones way, ignore it, if it is your desire to put up a sign, be reasonable, about the size shape type and location.

Temporary window signs can always be displayed (removable, keep it for a while to guide a visiting client and pick it up as soon as its function is fulfilled).

Advocate Sign Board

Yes. There is no restriction what so ever. Not only the Lawyers, every one in India has a right to put up his Name plate and vocation in the front portion of his residential house either on the entry gate of the compound wall, if any, or the front portion of the building. But no one has the right to put up such sign board by the side of the road in front of his residence, on the Government land. If he has his own vacant patch of land on the front side of his house he can jolly well put up his sign post there also. Why you are so much worried with this simple question.

No one need to be jealous of advocate or person who may put up their sign boards in front of their house - for the sake of convenience to his acquaintances.

Exhibiting details of the advocates chamber address should also be welcomed as a matter of convenience for others so also the Doctors and Engineers and professionals and every one are at liberty to do so. Please do not get worried and live peacefuly.

Wishing you peace and happiness.

With kind regards,

Maybe to protect the person's privacy who owns the number, in case the phone is lost or stolen. The person who owns the phone may have a great memory for numbers without needing the names and chooses to protect friends and family in this way. If you think about it like that, it's pretty thoughtful.

Well, you being a lawyer, you should know better. You should guide us.
This apart, in my opinion, you can put-up your board. I think, clinics, etc, will be barred.
