turtles lay their eggs on land. Turtle eggs are either oval or round and are white or nearly white, and they are covered with either thin and flexible or fairly thick and rigid eggshells that protect the eggs from drying out. Most female turtles bury their eggs in a nest hole that they dig in the ground with their hind feet. This nest site is chosen so that it provides proper warmth and moisture for the eggs, as well as safety from flooding. The number of eggs in a clutch—those eggs laid by a female during one nesting—varies from 1 to about 200, depending on the species. Most small species have clutches of between 1 and 6 eggs, but large species may have clutches that consist of dozens of eggs. Sea turtles, such as the green turtle, may migrate 2,000 km (1,242 mi) to find suitable nesting beaches. These turtles must drag themselves along the beach because their paddle-shaped forelimbs are not suitable for walking. After covering the nest with dirt or sand, a female turtle provides no further care for her eggs or young.

No they don't lay or hatch them in the sea. Turtles usually lay there eggs in dirt or sand something like up to two miles away. When the baby turtles hatch they immediately start heading for the water. A lot don't make it but the ones who do end up living for a ridiculously long time.

Turtles have a habit of traveling across oceans to their favorite beach to lay their eggs in the sand. They dig a hole, hatch their eggs and cover them up with the sand. The eggs are then left to hatch for themselves. The newborn baby turtles claw their way through the sand to the surface after hatching and instinctively head for the open sea.

no turtles lay eggs n hatch them on the beachs / shores. when the turtles r ready to lay eggs, they go to the same shore everytime. turtles lay eggs, cover them with sand and move on again.. when the babies hatch they head to the ocean. but they may not reach the waters as they have enemies like MAN, sea gulls, crocs, n other animals of prey.
sometimes they dont even hatch as the eggs will be taken by MAN who cherish it or by crocs that are having their own eggs..
So MAN is the main enemy of turtles - eggs n babies - that lead to extinction. Pls dont eat turtle meat or eggs and SAVE TURTLES....

Females must come ashore to lay their eggs in the sand; therefore, all sea turtles begin their lives as tiny hatchlings on land. Research on marine turtles has uncovered many facts about these ancient creatures.
