A cyliderical metal shell with the inner radii of 0.200m and 0.300m, respectively, carries a net charge of 4.0 x 10 pow -8 C/m.Along its center there is a wire with a uniform charge of -12.0 x 10 pow -8 C/m. ( This System is smilar to an electrostatic air cleaner). (a) Find the Electric Potential caused by this system of electric charges, using the outer surface of shell as reference point for the potential. (b) An electron is formed by ionizing a gas molecule 0.00100 m from the wire. with what kinetic energy in (electron Volts) and with what speed will the electron hit the metal shell, assuming it does not suffer any collisions enroute.

Dear Sayeda,
Are you sure that you have not mixed 2 questions into one.
The charge on the two surfaces should be equal unless one is screened from the other.
The first part seems to be a question on Coaxial Capacitors.
The second part seems to be a question on GeigerMuller type tubes.
Check it out! and re-submit the question.
