Very handy places to buy papers, mags, sweets, cigarettes ( I don't smoke) and drinks. Some friends of ours are newsagents and have had the family business for years and years. However, they're all trying to find other things to go into because they're struggling to stay afloat. Things aren't the same now that Tescos etc are taking over the world! It's true, most people go to the supermarket and get everything they need there. It's very sad for small businesses and also for disabled and elderly people who count on their local shop for their goods and also for social contact. I'm afraid that the world of the Internet is causing this problem as well.

My local is a pokey little shop with an Asian proprietor. They sell ciggies, papers, mags and sweets. What more can I say? I can buy cheaper and better at Tesco but its handy having the shop 5 minutes walk away from home.
