Aside from species and age limits (of both those involved in and those who purchase/rent/view), it also depends on where you are.
Some states it is illegal to film the movies. Some states have restrictions about how, for lack of better word, graphic the images can be.

Its only illegal when someone under the age of 18 is participating!! Other than that its totally legal!! Although technically it is prostitution so it should be illegal!!
