He is not an 'old/grown up' 60 though, he's quite with it for an oldie!(Not in the same way as Peter Stringfellow!!) He's actually pretty cool.

find out what his hobbies are...get him some books or DVDs.... OR take him out to dinner...OR buy him a watch with an engraving on the back...OR make up a collage of pictures of you an your Sib's for him to look back on....OR buy him some homer Simpson memorabilia...all dads have stuff by homer...OR plan a surprise party....peter Stringfellow is gross....he really is....cant stand the man....your dad sounds cool though....good luck

A basic suggestion. Something I did for my dad on his 60th.

I bought him a normal every day present, but I also got him a mug which I had printed spefically for him.

"Happy 60th Dad" written on one side and a photo of him taken back in the 1960's on the other side.

If he is an active outdoors type of person, give him a metal detector and encourage him to do some treasure hunting. It's a great relaxing type of hobby and a great way to get some exercize.

Get him tickets to the Ashes Test coming up....

Get him some movies starring Jack Nicholsen.

Get him a gift voucher to a golf course.

Get him a fishing rod.

Get him a pair of sunglasses.

Get him a bottle of vodka with a matching pair of decanisters.

Does he play golf? or like fishing? how about darts, or does he smoke? Has he got a computer? A car or bike? How about something for a workshop or gardening? Just a few ideas, they might help!

take him out for a meal just you and him, nobody els let him have you all to himself, be on your best behaviour be interested when he talks of the old days, dont take him where theres loud music so you can talk and have a laugh, the give him a present of sonme music from his younger days.
