how can i connect two systems in Lan both are having linux os's.?

i have two systems both are having Lan cards and Linux os's.i would like to implement FTP and TCP clinet /server applications.i don't know how to configure them.please give me reply.

Linux is a type of operating system that assumes you know what to do. In other words you should already know networking and how it works in order to set it up. Lets face it linux isn't very user friendly.
