Time-keeping was the problem, even though I wasn't even given a second chance.

Think of it this way, do they really know you after a week?
No.
Do not use this as a reference but if it the only job you have ever had, list on your resume that you have had experience doing ...
and then put down whatever that job entailed.
Do not be specific about the place though since you do not want them called. It'll look bad that you only stayed a week.

When you hold a job for such a short time period it is not a good idea to even put it down on a resume or application. It makes your work history look very spotty. Employers look for longevity on jobs - long time periods that you have worked on one job. Also, since you left because of time issues, you would not want to use this place as a reference because they might discuss your issues with the potential employer.

You should get paid for the time you worked by law. You are entitled to your salary.

You can get a reference, the question is, is that the reference you want potential employers to receive?

If you put that 1 week job down as a reference, they will call and you will get your reference!

I would try to think of something a little better than that, though.

I wouldn't bother.
References are supposed to be people who would recommend you to the prospective new employer. If you've only worked somewhere for a week, they probably don't even have an opinion on you!!
if you're still in contact with them though and get on well, it's worth asking beforehand if they would be happy to be a reference for you.

No i don't think a reference can be given unless you've worked the probationary period, but its best to check that up still.

They'd probably give you a reference if you asked them. It would say you only worked for a week and give their views on why you left.

No. Usually they say that you should list jobs that you had for at least 3 months.

depending on why it was only a week...
but whether its good or bad, it looks unprofessional to have lasted only one week in a job. it would probably do you more harm than good.
