You are the one who will have to live with the decision that you make and it will effect your life so don't base it on what someone else says alone. Ultimately it needs to be YOUR choice. You won't be able to put the blame for a bad choice you made on someone else believe me.

I find it ironic you are asking this question on Yahoo!Answers. I think Neither. You should rely on common sense. We tend to pick and choose what we want to hear when it is a matter of opinion..but if its a factual based decision, and if the people speaking obviously know what they are saying, and you know that they have more clue than you do, you should "consider" them as a factor in your decision. If they are as equally clueless as you are, then maybe listen to your own gut instincts or find another more sure source to your answer. As for Yahoo!Answers, there is no way to judge how much more experience Yahoo!Answerers are than you...so you need to use your common sense.

Maybe a combination of good advice, gut feelings plus hard evidence is the best way to make a decision.

I would go with gut feelings at all times, but also follow your heart, going on the influence of what people say would be the fact they would tell you what THEY would do rather than what YOU want to do, people can advise you but you dont have to follow it as you will always make up your own mind about things, making your own mind up is the best policy, then you wont resent anyone for advising you wrong.

Gut feelings can be wrong and so can other people, the worst advice I was ever given was from my mother on the morning of my first day at a new primary school (we moved house so I had to change school), she told me if anyone does anything naughty I should tell the teacher, anyway I followed my mums advice and got bullied for the rest of my life as a result, thanks mum!

Other crap advice from my mother included 'never hit a girl', a rule obviously invented by girls and exploited to the hilt, yes, I blame my mother for filling my head with bullshit, the worst part was when I realised my mother had serious issues with men and, knowing how weak and trusting I was, she decided to take them out on me.

I was scared of my mother growing up, I still can't stand up to any female as a result, every relationship I've ever had has never survived the 'we need to talk' stage because I can't emotionally cope with the barrage of degrading language I have to listen to, all I do is start crying as the girl of my dreams storms out of my life in abject disgust.

Definitely gut feeling - its not other people's decision, its yours - and even thought ultimately they may give good advice, its called a gut feeling for a reason.

never rely solely on on either...get the facts. gut feelings are rarely trustworthy and other ppl may have their own reasons good or bad for what they say and lets face it, their words are usually based on their feelings and perspective. no matter the situation, get the facts, use your brain and then make the most informed choice you can. if you do this then its you and only you who takes full responsibility good or bad for any decision you make.

Someone has to rely on their gut-feeling. You can't spend your life being told what to feel and how to think based upon someone elses gut-feeling.

Your gut feelings............what other people say is advice, it is ultimately down to you. The decision you are making im guessing is about you, it will effect you, not other people, so go with what you think. Dont be afriad of making mistakes, that is how we learn!
