The roads here are appalling and through no fault of my own I have had to replace a tyre due to the casing being damaged driving along the road to hell. Has anyone written to their Councils and got a refund for tyres that have damaged and needed replacement?

Never gonna happen brother. The mentality behind that is you are free to choose which roads you use and if you're driving a road that you know damages tires and driving that road too fast etc. See what i mean? They are always gonna have a way to make it your fault. You can forget about the Government giving you any money for that kind of problem. If they gave it to one person, can you imagine how many folks would be seeking to get paid once word-of-mouth was done spreading the news? Then they'd be using their entire budget to replace tires. Not gonna happen, and you know it as well as we do. Good Luck with the next idea.

The only time I wrote to the council about the state of their roads they nipped out and filled in the hole before I could make a formal complaint about losing my hub cap. It was only a crap*py Metro but I was poor at the time and couldn't afford a replacement, or get the suspension checked. They are devious, so good luck with your complaint!
