Yes tom cats seem to sense pregnancy. When my female cat becomes pregnant (not by them they have been neutured) they will not go near her and she becomes extremely loving towards us. So yes, Tom cats seem to sense pregnancy

Not so much a sense but a smell, you smell different. It's the hormonal changes in your body that he can smell.
Animals always act differently when you are sick as well. My cat is normally loving anyway, but since I've had an accident, he's very attentive, I can't go anywhere without him following me, even to the bathroom, where he'll stay until I move to another room and then follows me in there. I've been like this for 7 weeks and he hasn't left my side.

I believe they can tell, though when I first found out, I realized that my female had been, and was for a while afterwards, pretty cool towards me, like she was mad about something. She stopped sleeping on my bed, stopped coming to me for attention, etc. My male has been pretty lovey lately, and the female is creeping back in, but cautiously. It's hard to tell right now though with their reactions, I know they miss my husband (deployed at the end of August) on top of me being pregnant and the house changing appearances.

I have cats - My tom cat would not go near me apart from the same reasons yours after about couple of months and then it became shorter when my son started kicking me.

My older girl cat would not leave me alone and it worked out really well, as I grew bigger. When my son was playing football in my stomach, I would call my girl and she would sit on my stomach and my son would stop kicking me.

So, she became known as mummy no2.

So, yes I believe that cats do sense pregnancy and deal with it in different ways.

Animals are very sensitive...my cats certainly did notice...they became very affectionate..they were females. There is a small risk when you are pregnant from Toxo-plasmosis from cats. If you find out you are pregnant ask your Doc about the risks. They are very strict on it in France. I'm pregnant at the mo and I'm not allowed any cat contact which really ticks of our Tom Spot!!!

My cats (we have 2) adored me when I was pregnant with our son. The one would curl up on my tummy for hours.

The funniest thing was when the baby would start moving. Especially toward the end, our cats were fascinated by it. Geno (our boy cat) would smack at my tummy with his paw. It was like he was playing whack-a-mole!

Anyway, it's entirely possible that your tomcat is reacting to hormonal changes caused by pregnancy. Animals have a highly acute sense of smell and can often detect subtle changes.

Best of luck!

Yes! I really think they can. It sounds rediculous but my dog completely changed when i fell pregnant. Shes a springer spaniel and normally she jumps all over me without a care, then when i fell pregnant she started being really careful around me! Even my husband noticed it! (he didnt even notice when i painted the bathroom blue!) They must have some sort of heightened sense. Now im no longer pregnant she treads on me again! But shes careful with my son atleast! : )

It's possible as cats have a more acute sense of smell. People radiate different smells during pregnancy due to hormonal changes.

Its possible as animals can sense many changes and cats sense the mood change, if you were stressed then it will sense it. My dog was very protective and bonded with my son more then anyone. Babies also can sense pregnancy. Good luck
